The Mistake Some People Make​

Some people think truth must have a motive. That may just mean they’ve never spoken it plainly.

Some people can’t fathom it.
That a person could speak plainly—
not to gain power, not to seek status—
but simply because it’s true.

They don’t recognize it,
because they’ve never done it.
Not without performance. Not without tilt.
Not without trying to look like something.

So when you say,
“This is who I am. This is what happened. This is what’s real,”
they think:

There must be a reason.
There must be a play.

But there isn’t.
Not always.
Some people just say what is.

They don’t need you to believe it.
They don’t need it to look impressive.
They aren’t angling for a reaction.

They just live in the record—
even when it costs them.
Especially when it costs them.

And if that’s hard to understand,
it says nothing about them.
It only reveals
what you’ve been taught truth is for.
